Hey Guys,

I am working on a music video for a school project and I need to know how to create this effect entirely in After Effects. BTW This is the 100th post in this section!  Shocked

Ok so I have desaturated ALL my footage and I have some footage of me walking. I wanted everything behind me to be in color. Almost as if wherever i walk I spread color! For example if I walked on the street everything behind me would be in color and everything in front of me would be in black and white, meaning by the time I walk out of the frame EVERYTHING in that shot should be in color. Now that you actually get what I am trying to portray I hope that someone here can answer my question. Also I have tried animating an adjustment layer, but since it is a square its not accurate (meaning it looks like there is a desaturated square moving in front of me, it looks crapy) I want it to be more accurate. Should I animate a mask? Thanks.

yeah. i think. make a mask of the scene in color then keyframe it so it goes across the screen at the same time you're walking

Yes, before any of these posts I already solved my own question, Thanks Anyways. I also am an AE specialist its just that this school project isn't really the best thing for me to edit, so I needed some help. I'd really like to see "Produce" do some AE work as well me and him could exchange some useful tips. Cheesy Thanks All!

PS: For those of you who wanted to know how I solved my problem, I used a mask, however it did take long to edit because I wanted it to be insanely accurate.

you could possibly green screen yourself so that you wouldn't have to rotoscope yourself, so it would save time
